Its recommended VIN range is 4.25-16 V, so a 48 V bus needs an upstream conversion stage. VCC and VDRV are separate 4.25-5.5 V supply functions. Record those rails independently in the controller and power-stage design, together with the inductors, capacitors and cooling requirements that establish the completed regulator's operating envelope.
TDA21590 is the integrated power stage. It combines the driver and power MOSFETs and responds to the controller's PWM command. The controller, external passives and thermal design remain separate requirements. Compatibility should cover regulation, telemetry and fault interpretation, not only the existence of a PWM input.
Treat TDA21570AUMA1 as a comparison candidate: its official page lists a 70-A capability and PG-IQFN-39 package. These facts do not approve a replacement for the 90-A TDA21590. Engineering should review complete datasheets, board operating conditions, telemetry and fault behavior before procurement adds it to the approved line.

TDA21590 is a 90-A power stage; its orderable Infineon code is TDA21590AUMA1. Infineon's October 5, 2026 completion of the C2i acquisition puts AI data-center power management in the news. For a procurement manager, the useful response is a project-level review: which controller, how many approved phases, what thermal conditions and which complete ordering code belong in the next build?
In its October 5 announcement, Infineon says C2i brings expertise in software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages for AI data centers. It also identifies a future direction in vertical power delivery. The transaction therefore supports an industry discussion about tighter coordination across the power-conversion chain.
Resolve the Revision 2.0 discrepancy first: Section 6.6 and Table 15's OTP row describe different switching responses. Obtain Infineon's clarification for the intended implementation, then verify the complete controller/power-stage fault sequence. Until that response is established, keep the protection requirement open in the engineering release record rather than relying on one conflicting description.
Use the orderable TDA21590AUMA1 code and PG-IQFN-39 package, with required quantity, need-by date and controller pairing. Infineon's 5,000-piece tape-and-reel unit is packing information; request the quoted MOQ, full- or split-reel condition and delivery terms separately. Match labels, lot/date codes and agreed traceability or inspection evidence to the offered material before purchase release.
For procurement, review the architecture before increasing component coverage. The announcement gives a reason to ask the design team about its controller roadmap, telemetry requirements and validation timetable. Connect that roadmap to a released board revision and a dated commercial offer before committing to TDA21590 inventory.
This distinction becomes especially useful when a corporate announcement reaches procurement before a new board revision does. Assign each requirement to a named project and revision. Keep exploratory engineering demand separate from released production demand, and identify the evidence that would move a requirement from one column to the other. That keeps a promising technology direction visible without treating it as an executable purchase order.
The TDA21590 datasheet, Revision 2.0, describes an integrated synchronous-buck power stage with current and temperature reporting. Its recommended input range is 4.25-16 V; VCC and VDRV use 4.25-5.5 V. These are different supply functions, not interchangeable voltage labels.
The power stage responds to a controller's PWM command. The controller determines regulation and phase coordination; inductors, capacitors and the board's heat-removal path remain part of the design. Infineon's typical application separates these functions clearly. A compatible logic input alone leaves the feedback, fault interpretation and system behavior to be approved.
Table 1. From an AI power signal to an orderable requirement
| Decision level | Evidence available | Purchasing action |
|---|---|---|
| Company direction | C2i acquisition completed October 5, 2026 | Ask which released projects are affected and when |
| Device role | TDA21590 is an integrated power stage, rather than the multiphase controller | Preserve the approved controller/power-stage pairing |
| Order identity | Infineon lists TDA21590AUMA1, PG-IQFN-39 and tape-and-reel packaging | Put the complete code and packaging condition on the RFQ |
| Build coverage | Project phase count, load, thermal approval and schedule are buyer inputs | Calculate coverage from the actual approved build |

Figure 1. TDA21590AUMA1 is the power-stage line, not the multiphase controller or the complete converter. Preserve the separate VIN, VCC and VDRV functions and the approved telemetry and fault pairing; the datasheet OTP discrepancy remains a release condition.
The 90-A capability is a device rating. The board still needs a qualified operating point covering load, switching frequency, cooling and allowable junction temperature. A theoretical sum of phase ratings can conceal the actual limiting condition. A buyer can avoid that confusion by requesting the released operating requirement, rather than recalculating power capacity from the headline number.
Telemetry deserves the same discipline. Its value is the information that an approved controller can interpret and act on. Ask engineering which signals are connected, what their scaling means and which validation record covers the response. Then preserve that pairing in the sourcing specification. A substitute selected only for current rating may change an interface that the protection strategy relies on.
Fault behavior warrants particular care here. The datasheet's overtemperature discussion in Section 6.6 and its OTP row in Table 15 describe different switching responses. A design review should resolve that discrepancy with Infineon and validate the controller/power-stage response before relying on a specific shutdown sequence. Procurement can carry this as an engineering-release condition rather than silently choosing one interpretation.
For cost comparisons, use the complete converter's requirement and qualification effort. A typical device curve is not a measured result for the purchasing manager's board. Equally, a smaller quoted power-stage price can be outweighed by a changed controller, layout or validation schedule. The relevant comparison is the approved project outcome, with these costs made visible.
Two complete Infineon ordering codes provide useful comparison points. Their official product pages verify identity, headline current capability and package; this shortlist is an architecture comparison, not replacement approval.
Table 2. Related complete ordering codes and the change to review
| Ordering code | Manufacturer-page facts | Decision boundary |
|---|---|---|
| TDA21570AUMA1 | 70-A power stage; 5 x 6 mm PQFN, PG-IQFN-39 | Review current, losses, telemetry and controller behavior despite the similar package designation |
| TDA21535AUMA1 | 35-A power stage; 4 x 5 mm PQFN, PG-IQFN-25 | Different package and current class require a separate board and architecture review |

For an existing production board, keep these candidates outside the approved purchasing line until engineering releases them. For a new design, compare the complete power stage and controller combination before committing to a sourcing option. This preserves a useful alternative path without turning a family resemblance into a drop-in claim.
For the broader conversion hierarchy, our ISL99390FRZ-TR5935 server-power article separates a processor-rail stage from upstream bus conversion. This TDA21590 review adds a different purchasing task: controller pairing and the C2i roadmap. Auxiliary rails have their own startup constraints, covered in the MIC95410YFL-TR inrush and sequencing article.
The quantity calculation should start with the approved number of stages per board, scheduled builds and an agreed allowance for service or manufacturing needs. Reconcile accepted inventory and firm allocations separately. This is a planning method, not a forecast of TDA21590 demand or an instruction to build speculative inventory.
Figure 2. Calculate the gross stage requirement from scheduled builds and approved stages per board, then add agreed allowances and reconcile accepted inventory and firm allocations. All quantities are project inputs; the 5,000-piece reel unit is not a demand forecast or quoted MOQ.
Infineon's OPN record lists a 5,000-piece tape-and-reel packing size. That describes the manufacturer's packaging unit; the quoted MOQ, split-reel condition and delivery availability still require confirmation. Put these questions beside the exact code, rather than assuming the reel size is every supplier's minimum order.
Request terms that match the released design. Send TDA21590AUMA1, required quantity, need-by date, reel condition, acceptable date-code range and lot-document requirements through YG GROUP's RFQ. Name the approved controller pairing and any expressly allowed comparison codes. Ask for the offered quantity, packaging, delivery terms and quotation validity so engineering approval and the commercial offer refer to the same requirement.
