SX1302IMLTRT provides the digital gateway baseband. Semtech's reference architecture uses separate RF front ends, gain stages, a clock, power management and a host. Carry those full component codes and the selected radio configuration into the gateway BOM enquiry. The concentrator's QFN68 order code identifies one component within that assembly.
Semtech describes SX1303 as hardware compatible with SX1302, but production substitution still needs approval. SX1303 adds Fine Timestamping with operating-mode and modem-allocation choices. Check the accepted HAL release, required spreading factors, timestamp output and server behavior. Its capabilities do not establish localization accuracy for a particular deployment.
Semtech specifies SF12, 125 kHz bandwidth, an SX1250 front end and an external LNA with 18 dB gain and 1.5 dB noise figure. The sensitivity test uses a 12-byte packet, 10% packet error rate and nominal supply and temperature conditions. Compare a gateway against that complete setup, including its filters and RF routing, rather than assigning the number to the baseband alone.
The core-current figures rise from 17 mA average and 28 mA peak at 25 C to 77 mA average and 85 mA peak at 85 C under the datasheet conditions. Size the core rail for the applicable peak and temperature case. Enable the core before the I/O rail, and disable it after the I/O rail; verify both sequences on the intended board.
Provide SX1302IMLTRT, quantity, need-by date and required packing, plus separate full codes for the RF companions, clock and power devices. The documented 3,000-piece reel is a manufacturer pack size; ask for the offered MOQ, delivery terms and lot records. For an assembled-gateway request, also define frequencies, modulation settings and RF test limits so component inspection and gateway acceptance remain distinct.

SX1302IMLTRT is a LoRa gateway baseband processor; its RF front end, clock, power and host remain separate design choices. For a factory buyer, the important question is whether the LoRa gateway BOM and production test cover those choices together. A competitive concentrator quote becomes useful when the surrounding design can receive, forward and transmit the required traffic.
Semtech's SX1302 Rev. 1.2 datasheet identifies SX1302IMLTRT as a 68-pin QFN device measuring 7 mm by 7 mm, with a 0.35 mm pin pitch and a -40 C to 85 C operating range. The ordering page lists tape-and-reel packing of 3,000 pieces. That is manufacturer packing information, not a minimum order imposed by every supplier. .
The baseband handles the digital side of the concentrator. Companion RF devices downconvert and digitize the received signals. Semtech shows interfaces for SX1250, SX1255 and SX1257, and a reference architecture with two RF front ends, RF gain stages, a clock, power management and a host. Buying the baseband alone leaves a system-level procurement task unfinished. The approved reference implementation, rather than a generic list of compatible families, should drive the production BOM.
Table 1. Requirements that belong beside the concentrator line item
| Gateway block | Requirement to preserve | Procurement consequence |
|---|---|---|
| RF front end | Approved device, operating band and receive/transmit chain | An available companion family does not define the assembled RF performance |
| Clock | Validated reference-clock arrangement and accuracy | An oscillator substitution needs the actual reference design and board review |
| Power | Core and I/O rails, sequencing and peak-current allowance | The regulator and startup behavior affect concentrator operation |
| Host and software | Approved interface, HAL release and packet-forwarder configuration | A chip shipment is separate from a working host integration |
| Regional implementation | Channel plan, RF configuration and required product approvals | The completed gateway needs its own acceptance process |

Figure 1. The SX1302IMLTRT baseband is one gateway line item. Preserve the approved RF chain, clock, core/I/O power sequence, host software and regional implementation alongside it; this conceptual diagram is not a pin-level reference design.
The datasheet reports -141 dBm sensitivity at spreading factor 12 and 125 kHz bandwidth, but the stated setup includes an SX1250 front end and an external LNA with 18 dB gain and 1.5 dB noise figure. It also specifies a 10% packet error rate, a 12-byte packet and nominal temperature and supply conditions. Semtech SX1302 receiver conditions and sensitivity table, pp. 14-15.
Those conditions give engineering a useful reference point. They also explain why quoting that sensitivity as a standalone SX1302IMLTRT property would mislead a buyer comparing gateway boards. The LNA, filters, routing and chosen radio are part of the receiving system being evaluated.
A sourcing enquiry should therefore distinguish chip acceptance from gateway acceptance. For the chip, specify the exact order code, package and lot requirements. For an assembled gateway, define the frequencies, modulation settings, test setup and pass criteria. A bench check at one bandwidth cannot establish every operating mode, and an RF sensitivity figure alone cannot predict field coverage.
Semtech specifies a nominal 1.2 V core supply and 3.3 V I/O supply, with respective recommended ranges of 1.1-1.3 V and 3.0-3.6 V. Its power-management discussion separates average current, used for energy budgeting, from peak current, used for component sizing. The listed core figures rise from 17 mA average and 28 mA peak at 25 C to 77 mA average and 85 mA peak at 85 C. These are the datasheet's operating-condition figures, not measurements of a finished gateway. Semtech SX1302, pp. 13 and 18.
The room-temperature average is an incomplete basis for selecting the power rail. Engineering should check the intended enclosure temperature, traffic case and startup sequence against the regulator design. Semtech also requires the core supply to be enabled before the I/O supply and disabled after it. A cost-driven regulator change can therefore alter more than the bill's unit price.
Keep that decision visible in an approved-BOM change request. The buyer needs the accepted regulator and clock codes, while engineering needs the conditions under which replacements will be reviewed. This turns an apparent shortage of one part into a defined qualification task instead of an uncontrolled assembly substitution.
SX1303IMLTRT is a genuine related concentrator order code, not an RF companion. Semtech describes SX1303 as hardware compatible with SX1302 and adds Fine Timestamp support for time-difference-of-arrival applications. Both ordering pages identify the same 68-pin QFN package size. Semtech SX1303 Rev. 1.2, pp. 1, 7 and 20.
Table 2. Compare the required concentrator behavior
| Exact order code | Distinct selection role | Approval boundary |
|---|---|---|
| SX1302IMLTRT | Digital baseband for the approved LoRa gateway implementation | RF chain, clock, power and host remain external design requirements |
| SX1303IMLTRT | Related concentrator with Fine Timestamp capability | Hardware compatibility still requires software, operating-mode and network review |

Fine Timestamping also changes modem allocation. SX1303's all-spreading-factor timestamp mode allows up to eight packets, with at most four using SF11 or SF12. Another configuration prioritizes capacity but provides SF11/SF12 demodulation without Fine Timestamping. The selection question is consequently more precise than whether the newer chip has an extra feature: which packet modes must carry the timing information?
Figure 2. SX1303IMLTRT adds Fine Timestamping, but its all-SF timestamp mode permits up to eight packets and at most four SF11/SF12 packets. Choose the required mode and validate HAL and packet behavior; hardware compatibility alone does not release the change.
Semtech's public HAL repository contains the concentrator library, packet forwarder and configuration examples, with separate changes for Fine Timestamping and host interfaces. Carry the project's selected release and configuration into the change review, then test the packet and timestamp behavior on the intended host. Semtech SX1302/SX1303 HAL README.
An Ethernet-connected gateway also needs a separate wired-network review. Our RTL8367N-VB-CG traffic-budget article addresses shared egress constraints, while the KSZ9567RTXI-TR PTP article separates Ethernet clock roles from packet latency. Neither switch is a LoRa baseband substitute; the articles help define the host-side requirement.
A good SX1302IMLTRT purchase preserves a known gateway implementation. It separates the baseband shipment from the RF, power and software work that makes the assembly usable. SX1303IMLTRT belongs on the comparison list when timestamping requirements justify a qualified change, rather than as an automatically approved substitute.
Request an SX1302IMLTRT quote from YG GROUP with quantity, need-by date, the approved QFN package, acceptable packing and any lot/date-code limits. List required RF companions and other BOM items separately, using their full approved codes. If SX1303IMLTRT is under evaluation, identify it as a comparison candidate and describe the required timestamp modes. For requested inspection or testing, include the scope and acceptance conditions so the quotation can address the actual procurement requirement.
